1. The Mechanism of MTBE
As an antiknock agent, MTBE will make addition effects with gasoline to raise octane number. MTBE can inhibit the cracking of alkanes in gasoline at the start of combustion. It has the significant trend of inhibiting the oxidation of aromatic hydrocarbons in gasoline. Thus the combustion lagging of gasoline becomes longer. MTBE can promote the burning of gasoline at the start of the combustion.
